Crete Public Library Hosts Contest for Grades K-12

The Crete Public Library District will host a bookmark design contest for individuals in grades K-12 in observance of National Library Week. The theme for the design contest is “Unlimited possibilities @ your library®”. The deadline for design submission is Monday, March 30th. Winners will be announced on Monday, April 6th.

Entries must be designed on the form provided by the library in pencil, crayon, paint and/or marker. Forms may be obtained at the library’s patron services desk or may be downloaded from the website at www.cretelibrary.org. Entries will be judged in four grade categories: K-1; 2-4; 5-8; and 9-12. Prizes will be awarded in each category as well as one grand prize. Only one entry per person is allowed and all artwork must be original.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries - school, public, academic and special - participate. National Library Week runs from April 12-18, 2015.
