Learn how to create an abstract painting! Under the direction of well known painter Patricia Moore, students will explore color, perspective, depth, and composition as they create their own abstract work of art.
Basic supplies will be provided: Paint (acrylic), gel medium, brushes, pallets, and sketching materials will be provided; however, students are encouraged to bring their own supplies.
Supplies Needed:
- surface to paint on *
- acrylic paints and acrylic gel medium (glossy, not matte)
- paint brushes: natural hair 1" or larger. Pat Moore suggests having a #12 round or filbert style natural hair brush for this class (also good to have a flat and a bright style brush)
- palette to hold paint and palette knife to mix paint
- sketchbook and pencil/pen
- easel (If you prefer to stand and paint; tables will be provide as a surface to paint on)
* Students are required to bring their own surface to paint on. Any surface acceptable, no larger than 4ft (Patricia Moore encourages surfaces 2ft or larger for this class). Some ideas include canvas, wood, paper, or cardboard. Raw canvas or wood should be primed with gesso or primer before class. If you need instruction on this process, please contact the gallery for assistance. Primed canvas or hardboard can be bought at any craft or art supply store.
