Go Army Challenge Comes To Bloom High School

One Bloom Township High School students did 34 pull-ups, nearly breaking a national record.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - More than 300 students at Bloom Township High School took part in the High School Go Army Challenge when the national event came to the Chicago Heights school on April 4. Students competed in numerous activities that test physical endurance.

One student, Juan Ruiz, was particularly impressive when it came to doing pull-ups. He did 34 of them, which Challenge officials said was just one shy of the record any student has done since they began visiting high schools.

The High School Challenge is in its seventh year of touring the country, connecting recruiters with top performing schools, students and educators. It is designed as a hands-on engagement experience, exposing students to scenarios that require agile problem-solving skills and physical strength, similar to the challenges today's Army Soldiers encounter on the mission field, according to officials.
