Bloom township team proceeds from hunger walk benefited township's food pantry.

(Chicago Heights, IL) – Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez and Bloom Township volunteers recently participated in the annual Greater Chicago Food Depository’s walk to raise money for the local township food pantry.

Gonzalez and a couple dozen volunteers joined the 32nd annual “Walk for Hunger” in Chicago’s Jackson Park on September 16.

“The fight against hunger has yet to be won,” said Gonzalez. “There are individuals and families in our own community who do not have enough to eat, and the mission of the Bloom Township Food Pantry is to help provide children and families with the nutrition that they need.”
