Gonzalez Hails National Financial Accounting Honor Awarded to Chicago Heights
Award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

(Chicago Heights, IL) – A national government financial officers group has recognized the City of Chicago Heights for its “excellence” in the financial reporting of the south suburban community’s balance sheets.
The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada in May awarded Chicago Heights the group’s “Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting” for its comprehensive annual financial report.
“The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting,” said GFOA in a May 15, 2017 press release, “and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.”

Chicago Heights Mayor David Gonzalez praised the group’s honor.
“As an accountant by profession, I deeply honored by the Government Finance Officers Association’s award to Chicago Heights,” said Gonzalez, who is the managing partner of GW & Associates PC, a public accounting firm based in Chicago Heights. “As mayor, one of my top goals has been to provide world-class financial reporting and accounting of the city’s finances in order install confidence and transparency in potential business investors in our city and in taxpayers who pay the bills.”
