During his 6 years in the patrol division, Bakowski, who routinely volunteered for specialty assignments, was a member of the Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Mobile Field Force Unit (Mutual Response Team), a select team of officers that provide aid to other communities in public safety emergencies. In the detective division, Bakowski investigated hundreds of cases and earned a position targeting homicide cases in the southland region with the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force.
The police department’s top cop praised the newly minted sergeant’s test score placement.
