World AIDS Day Celebration HIV/AIDS Awareness
On Sunday, December 7, 2014 the South Suburban HIV/AIDS Regional Coalition’s hosts our 3rd Annual World AIDS Day Celebration “Stepping Out Against HIV/AIDS”. This event is a fun-filled night of dancing and entertainment designed to shed light on the state of HIV/AIDS in South Suburban Cook County and provide the community with health messages regarding HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis C and other related health disparities.
“Stepping Out Against HIV/AIDS” is intended to be a community education event. The evening will include testimonials, educational presentations, HIV and Hep C testing and an opportunity for participants to enroll with the Affordable Care Act. We anticipate approximately 150 attendees that include community providers, general community, and person infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.
Additionally, we take time out of this night to honor Rev. Charles Straight with the Dr. Sherry Luck Award. Rev. Straight is the pastor of the Faith United Methodist Church and will be recognized for his efforts in advocating for the equality of HIV prevention, early intervention and outreach services in Southern Cook County.
