Humane Society Dog Will Be In Puppy Bowl

Boppity, a Chihuahua Terrier mix, will be one of three Chicago-area dogs in Puppy Bowl XIV on Super Bowl Sunday.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL – It may be awhile before Chicago is represented in the Super Bowl again, but the city and suburbs is well represented when it comes to another Super Bowl Sunday tradition. Three dogs, including one who is looking for a forever home at the South Suburban Humane Society in Chicago Heights, with local ties will participate in Puppy Bowl XIV. The annual pre-Super Bowl tradition will be aired on Animal Planet at 2 p.m. central time on Sunday, Feb. 4.

Boppity, a Chihuahua Terrier mix comes in to Puppy Bowl Sunday with one of the best story lines. Entering the South Suburban Humane Society as a 6-week-old puppy from an overcrowded shelter in Mississippi, Boppity went into foster care and learned how to play in preparation for the big game at his foster home.

He'll be one of 90 puppies from 48 shelters nationwide participating in the game for either "Team Fluff" or "Team Ruff." See the full Puppy Bowl lineup here via Animal Planet

According to a WGN report, joining Boppity on "Team Fluff" will be Stripe, a yellow lab mix who was adopted by a family on Chicago's North Side last summer and renamed Buddy. Miss Brie, a Jack Russell Terrier who was adopted by a couple from Palatine, will be on the opposing Team Ruff as the dogs go paw to paw and nose to nose while seeking the coveted Chewy.com Lombarky Trophy.

The dogs will take the field for a playful game of terrier touchdown, puppy penalties and furry fumbles.

An impressive performance from Boppity in the Puppy Bowl could earn him a Most Valuable Puppy title, but more importantly a forever home.
