Kennedy School Celebrates Dr. Seuss Read Across America Week

The event at the CHSD170 school celebrated the famed author's birthday in conjunction with various PBIS and reading activities

CHSD170’s Kennedy School recently celebrated Dr. Seuss Read Across America Spirit Week by conducting a PBIS Dance Party in conjunction with a series of activities promoting a love of reading and in celebration of the birthday of the renowned author.

During the "Wacky Wednesday" celebration students and staff dressed in mismatched outfits, enjoyed the dance party, participated in 15-minute reading challenges, and viewed Dr. Seuss videos. Additional activities celebrated the joy of reading and students received themed incentives for completing reading logs.

“We wanted to celebrate Read Across America Week with a series of activities that would get our students excited about reading,” said Caitlin Szlenk, a member of the Kennedy PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) Team.
