Local Youth Invited to Participate in Youth Day

Chicago Miracle Temple Church invites local youth to showcase their talents in Youth Day on March 8. Read poetry, sing and bring your arts

When Rosalyn Jamison of Chicago Heights stopped by to see Co-Pastor Cheryl Anderson at Chicago Miracle Temple Church, she saw a need.

Using her training at New Faith Baptist Church and a Master’s degree in health care, Jamison has found her niche.

“I came here one day after church,” said Jamison. “Co-Pastor Anderson asked if I could lead their youth, something about the desire in her eyes, I knew I needed to be here and help.”

Within a month, Jamison has tripled the youth at Chicago Miracle Temple Church in Chicago Heights.

Sunday, the youth are showing their talents in a special service showcasing their talents.

Chicago Heights youth are also encouraged to join in.

“The youth will control the service from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, March 8,” Jamison said. “The kids have written poems, others will sing. I can’t wait for people to hear what they have to say,” she added.

Within two weeks, CMT church will begin free dance classes for young ladies along with a community choir.

Jamison smiled as she recalled youth she worked with at New Faith Baptist. “The kids that we worked with at New Faith that went through the program, went on to be successful. That is what we’re trying to do here.”

“Bring them here at CMT Church while they are young, keep them on the right track and teach them there is a bigger purpose here,” Jamison added.

Chicago Heights residents know how involved Chicago Miracle Temple Church has been to the community, from hosting the Martin Luther King ceremonies to sponsoring the produce mobile at the Chicago Heights Park District.

“God calls us here because you are needed in this community, in this country,” adds Jamison.

Schedule every Sunday is noon to 2 p.m. for youth toddler-17 years old for Sunday School. On March 8 from 2 to 3 p.m., free chili will be given to all attending youth. From 3 to 5 p.m. is the Youth Day. Chicago Miracle Temple Church is located at 34 E. 16th Street in Chicago Heights.
