March 20 Senior Health Fair Canceled Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Senator Hastings prioritizes citizens health amid outbreak concerns

Senator Michael E. Hastings (D-Frankfort) proactively responded to Governor J.B. Pritzker’s March 9, 2020, disaster proclamation by cancelling all meetings and events within his district until the COVID-19 outbreak has been contained.

“COVID-19 has been proven to most impact older adults and the immuno-compromised,” Hastings said. “I cannot in good conscience ask people to put their health at risk to attend events and meetings at this time. The health and safety of our residents must come first.”

The Spring Into Good Health Senior Fair was to be held at the Richton Park Community Center on Friday, March 20, from 10 am - 1 pm, with nearly 50 vendors and breakout programing designed with seniors’ health needs and lifestyles in mind.

“Our partners look forward to identifying a date to host this event once the threat has been eliminated,” Hastings said. “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate everyone’s cooperation.”

Event partners included state Representative Debbie Meyers-Martin, Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller, Richton Park Village President Rick Reinbold, Franciscan Health, and Alpha Kappa Alpha 20 Pearls Foundation.
