Marian Catholic Choir Visits Grand Ole Opry
Choir students at Marian Catholic worked with a Nashville songwriter on composing their own lyrics.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Members of the Marian Catholic High School choral program spent four days in Nashville earlier this month. Forty-six students made the trip from April 4-7. They performed at several venues and worked with a Nashville songwriter at the Country Music Hall of Fame to compose their own lyrics, according to a news release from the school.
They also recorded a CD with a professional sound engineer at RCA Studio B, participated in a master class with a professor at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music, toured the Musicians Hall of Fame and visited the Grand Ole Opry, where they were entertained by Cassidy Pope, winner of season three of NBC's The Voice.
"It was interesting to see how the kids responded to all of the live music and performance opportunities," Marian Catholic Choral Claire Jakubisin. "As a teacher, I was in awe, watching them go into performance mode. For them, seeing how their music inspired others in Music City USA was really cool."
