Marian Girls Golf Returns Talent to Make Title Run

Spartans return entire cast after finishing sixth in IHSA state tournament a year ago.

The Marian Catholic girls golf team returns its entire cast from last year's team that finished sixth in the IHSA state tournament. Junior Bree Veazey and seniors Sylvie Brick and Samantha Barlage figure to lead the Spartans.

The three were featured in the Southtownstar's girls golf preview.

Bloom Lands Two on Soccer Watch List

Bloom Township soccer players Jorge Garcia and Raymundo Munoz were named on the Southtownstar's players to watch list.

Bloom Volleyball Seeks a High Five

The Bloom Township girls volleyball team is seeking its fifth consecutive Southland Conference title. With all-area outside hitter Amber Fryer returning, the Blazing Trojans are expecting another big year.

The Trojans play all of their home games at Bloom Trail. Their first home match is Tuesday, Aug. 30, against Lincoln-Way North.

Marian Boys Golf Places 9th

The Marian Catholic boys golf team placed ninth at the Glenbard West Invitational on Thursday. Sean Rea and Mike Bush led the Spartans. Both shot 85 at Glen Oaks Country Club in Glen Ellyn.
