Motorcyclist Killed, Passenger Seriously Hurt In Crash

The crash killed a 59-year-old Crete resident.

CRETE, IL — A Crete man was killed and a woman was hurt when their motorcycle was struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon, Illinois State Police said. Michael Boylan, 59, and Kimberly Boylan, 55, were heading west on Exchange Street at around 1:59 p.m. when their 2012 Harley-Davidson was struck by an eastbound Hyundai Sonata that attempted to turn left onto I-394 in front of them, according to police.

Both were taken to an area hospital, where Michael Boylan was later pronounced dead. Kimberly Boylan suffered serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the Hyundai, 44-year-old Ravindar Ganla, of Cleveland, was cited for failure to yield turning left, according to police. The Illinois State Police Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash.
