Obituary: James H. Stanfa, 56

A native of Chicago Heights was retired from the Bradley Post Office and loved the Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, and the Fighting Illini

James H. Stanfa, 56 of Bourbonnais passed away August 9, 2017 at his home. He was born February 17, 1961 in Chicago Heights, IL to Joseph and Janet (Buchmeier) Stanfa. James married Melanie Thomason October 25, 2014 in Bourbonnais.

He retired from the Bradley Post Office where he was a mail carrier. He loved the Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, and the Fighting Illini. He enjoyed grilling out, playing softball with the Chotahs softball team and golfing. He loved his pets and all animals. Most of all James enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Melanie of Bourbonnais, 3 stepdaughters; Marissa Montwid of Bourbonnais, Ashton (Oscar) Lopez of Bradley and Stephanie (Steve) Lowman of Bradley and a stepson Jonathan Karnes of Bradley. Also surviving are 2 step grandsons; Lukas and Ethan Lopez, 2 sisters Judy (Tom) Trefz of French Lick, IN, Jan (David) Basile of Chicago Heights, 2 brothers; Joseph Stanfa and John Stanfa both of Chicago Heights, 3 nephews; Adam, Nick and Vincent Stanfa and a niece Michelle Stanfa.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

There will be a memorial visitation Thursday, August 17, 2017 from 3 pm to 7 pm at the Schreffler Funeral Home, Bourbonnais Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 7 pm with Fr. David Simonetti
officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to family wishes.
