Bloom Democrats Give Thousands To Man Who Has 'No Plans' To Run

The "Friends of Frank Perez" political action committee exists, but the former alderman says he has "no current plans" to run for office.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A political action committee formed earlier this summer to raise funds for Frank Perez, the current superintendent of the Chicago Heights Park District. But Perez told Chicago Heights Patch he has "no current plans" to run for any office.

An Illinois Sunshine report shows the "Friends of Frank Perez" political action committee having received $6,537 from the Bloom Township Democratic Organization shortly after the PAC formed in May. The account currently has just over $6,000 in funds available.

"I am invited to a lot of events for both political and non-political charities and wanted to set up a committee to donate to those organizations," Perez said.

Other than the single contribution from the Bloom Township Democrats, there weren't any other donations listed in a quarterly report for the PAC issued at the end of June.

In addition to serving as the parks superintendent, Perez is a current trustee on the Thorn Creek Sanitary Basin District.

Perez, a former Chicago Heights alderman, says he will not rule out running for office at some point in the future though.

"If the opportunity does come up, I may seek office in the near future," Perez said.
