Police Say Man Pawned Computer from Rent-a-Center

Rent-A-Center in Chicago Heights claims man made just one payment of $24.99 for laptop before pawning it.

A Chicago Heights man is accused of signing an agreement to purchase a laptop computer for $673 from the Rent-A-Center at 127 W. Joe Orr Rd., then defaulting on the agreement, police said.

The man's girlfriend told Rent-A-Center that the Hewlett-Packard laptop had been taken to EZ Pawn, 513 W. 14th St., where the man allegedly received $200 for it, according to the report.

A Rent-A-Center employee told police that the man made only one $24.99 payment for the laptop.

EZ Pawn has told that the laptop is at their business, but they refuse to return it unless they receive $240, according to the report.
