Prairie State College Speech Team Brings Home Several Awards from Tournament

The team was coached by PSC Professors Ed Schwarz and Joshua Green.

The Prairie State College (PSC) Speech Team placed third in the community college division and earned several individual honors during the recent tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College.

Patrick Sheard of Dolton was named tournament champion in persuasive speaking and received third place in prose. Kelly Crescenzo of Steger was named tournament champion for informative speaking. Daniel Blewitt of Crete received third place for inter-squad improvisational scene. Shania Johnson of Park Forest received fifth place for persuasive speaking.

Also competing were Rachel Brooks of Matteson, Caleb D’Amico of Country Club Hills and Anfernee Gray of Sauk Village.

“Overall, our first timers said they learned a lot and are excited to continue competing throughout the year,” Green said.
