PSC Speech Team Places Third in First Tournament of the Season

The team also brought home several individual awards from a recent tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College.

The Prairie State College Speech Team took third place in Team Sweepstakes and brought home several individual awards from a recent tournament hosted by Moraine Valley Community College.

Destiny Cunningham of Sauk Village placed third in Novice Persuasion. Jocelyn Billheimer of Country Club Hills placed third in Persuasion. Julia Porco of Matteson placed fourth in Novice Informative. Cymone Winters of Robbins placed fourth in Informative. Dairyon Bolden of Markham placed fifth in Open Speech to Entertain. Additional members of the team competing in the tournament were Adam Alderson of Sauk Village and Jaylan Edwards of Calumet City. The team was coached by PSC Professors Joshua Green and Dana Trunnell.

Team members said that during the first tournament of the year, they learned the intricacies of the different events, as well as the importance of having a personal connection to the material so that they can deliver with passion.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of our students during this first tournament of the year,” said PSC President Dr. Terri L. Winfree. “We look forward to big things coming from them in the tournaments to come.”
