Residents with Flood Damage Urged to Register with FEMA for Help
Following the heavy flooding in the Chicago Heights area between April 16 and May 5, FEMA is offering potential assistance to Chicago Heights residents. Residents must register for assistance before the July 9 deadline.

Chicago Heights residents who were affected by the flooding between April 16 and May 5 are being nudged by the city to register for FEMA assistance during two events in late June. FEMA representatives will be in Chicago Heights on June 21 and 22, first at City Hall on Friday, June 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and at the Chicago Heights Corner Market on Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
For those residents who register, they may be able to receive “grants to help pay for temporary housing, home repairs and other disaster-related expenses not met by insurance or other assistance programs,” according to a release from FEMA.
Residents who cannot make either of the two registration events can also register online at disasterassistance.gov or with a web-enabled phone at m.fema.gov.
