Liquor Store Clerk Belted With Bottle By Suspected Booze Thief
A clerk at the United Liquor Mart in Homewood was injured while confronting a man trying to steal booze, police said.

HOMEWOOD, IL - A store clerk was hit in the head with a bottle while trying to stop an alleged thief who tried leaving the United Liquor Mart in Homewood last week, according to a police report. Homewood police on Sept. 13 charged Rodney Latimer, 33, of Chicago Heights with battery aggravated battery and armed robbery in connection to an incident reported at the business located at 17532 Dixie Highway at 6:13 p.m.
Latimer is accused of placing bottles of liquor in a bag without paying for the merchandise. When he was confronted by the store clerk, police say he struck the clerk with a bottle.
The clerk suffered a wound to the face and was transported to the hospital, treated and released.
