HOMEWOOD, IL — There's a casino in the plans for the southeast suburbs. Wind Creek Hospitality hopes to open a casino and luxury hotel near the corner of Halsted and 175th streets at the border of Homewood and East Hazel Crest, ABC-7 reports. The location is not far from Interstate 294 and a Halsted Street retail corridor with big-name stores like Walmart, Target, Kohl's and Home Depot.

Win Creek's proposal will first be heard by the village boards in both Homewood ane East Hazel Crest, and if the project is certified they can submit their application to the Illinois Gaming Board. The hospitality group already operates a number of casinos in other states.
