Single Mom Killed In Crash, GoFundMe Begins To Help Kids

Help is needed for the family of Sophie Hussain, who was killed as a result of a weekend crash in Ford Heights.

FORD HEIGHTS, IL — A 32-year-old woman was killed as a result of an early Saturday morning crash in south suburban Ford Heights. Sophie Hussain was identified as the victim of the crash Cook County Sheriff's police responded to around 1:10 a.m. in the area of Route 30 and Seeley Avenue.

Hussain was a single mother to two boys, Caleb and Liam. She also leaves behind her mother, grandmother and many aunts, uncles and cousins, according to a GoFundMe campaign that began immediately to help the family pay for funeral expenses.

"Due to her sudden death and being so young, there is no life insurance in place," according to the campaign. "Any assistance for funeral arrangements would be greatly appreciated."

Additional funds that are received after the funeral is paid for will help Caleb and Liam.

So far, $345 has been raised of a $5,000 goal as of noon on Monday.

Sheriff's police say officers at the scene of the crash found a Dodge Neon with extensive damage. Hussain, a Sauk Village resident, was found inside the car before paramedics rushed her to Franciscan St. Margaret Hospital in Dyer, Indiana. She was later taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased.

The crash remains under investigation.

Funeral arrangements for Hussain have not been finalized.
