Stolen Dog Back in Arms of South Suburban Humane Society

A positive outcome for a pup named Cheeser.

It might have taken a villageβ€”and social media, and news media blasting his story across the Chicagoland areaβ€”but stolen pit bull β€œCheeser” is back in the arms of shelter staff.

The 10-month-old dog had been stolen from South Suburban Humane Society Wednesday evening. The shelter quickly released notice of the theft, paired with surveillance images of the three suspects.

And so began the chase for Cheeser. Social media took over, as word spread across the south suburbs. The dognappers were ratted out by a family member who recognized the suspects in coverage.Β

All for a happy ending Thursday evening.

β€œAfter tirelessly focusing all of our energy, with the miraculous power of social media, and the efforts of multiple police departments, Cheeser is safely back in the arms and care of SSHS,” staff wrote on the Facebook page. The shelter intends to pursue charges against the suspects.
