Textbook Distribution at Bloom High School
I am member of the local community that feeds into Bloom Township High School District 206 and I was made aware of a situation by neighbor of mine who has a student that attends Bloom High School. The vast majority of the students at the school did not receive their textbooks when they started school on Monday, August 18th. Nor did they get them on Tuesday. I was informed by my neighbor that their child who is a senior was told by their teachers that seniors will not receive their textbooks until Friday, August 22. How does a school not have a student’s textbooks ready for the student by at least the second day of school? Wasn’t there a whole summer to prepare for this day? I understand that students transfer and register late, but I see the signs are the community and I know when the registration dates are scheduled. I also know, because I went to a high school at some point in my, that a returning student usually has their schedules before the summer break begins for them.
This is slowing down the learning process for the students when they do not have textbooks for certain classes and puts them behind in their studies. Teachers re limited to what they can do in class, because they do not a reference material for the students to utilize in class. Computers are a wonderful resources, but not all teachers have access to a computer lab on a daily basis. Students need their textbooks. What part of the chain of command messed this up? Its a very simple process, access a student’s schedule and then get them their books. Done. I’m glad my tax dollars are being utilized so well.
