Thomas Fumble Recovery, Touchdown Leave Bloom Football Feeling Good About Future
The Blazing Trojans were all but left for dead in their season-opening 28-14 loss to Thornwood, but Jalen Thomas returned a fumble for a touchdown and Bloom put up a fight to the finish.

The Bloom Township football team looked like it was headed to a lifeless loss to Thornwood in Saturday's season-opener. The Blazing Trojans trailed 21-0 before Jalen Thomas provided a spark.
After teammate David Eubanks forced a T-Bird fumble, Thomas picked it up and returned it for a touchdown, the big highlight in a 28-14 Bloom setback.
"I was just trying to pick up the team anyway I could," Thomas said. "When David knocked the ball loose, I saw it there and grabbed it and ran."

The Blazing Trojans tacked on another late score and, even though they lost by two touchdowns, they left the field feeling a sense of pride in the way they fought to the finish.
"We worked hard all summer, and we will get better," Thomas said.

Blazing Trojans coach Tony Palombi was proud of the way his team competed in the second half.
"We battled back and showed when we block and tackle we can do good things," Palombi said. "They are a great group of guys, and I am proud of them."
The trick in Saturday's game vs. Glenbard South will be to protect the ball and win the turnover battle.
