The Spartans legend and current Phoenix Suns player will be the first basketball player to have his jersey retired at Marian Catholic.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Marian Catholic High School will retire the basketball jersey of Tyler Ulis, a former Spartans standout and current point guard for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA.
The jersey will be retired during halftime of the Spartans' Friday, Feb. 17 varsity basketball game against East Suburban Catholic Conference rival Marian Central Catholic, Kevin Kelly - the school's associate athletic director - said in an email. Ulis will be the first Marian Catholic basketball player to have his jersey retired. The school has retired football uniforms worn by Mike Prior, John Holecek, Rodney Harrison and Dennis Kelly.
Ulis, who grew up in Lima, Ohio and moved to nearby Matteson with his family when he was in high school, graduated from Marian Catholic in 2014 and went on to be an All-American at the University of Kentucky. He was selected in the second round of the 2016 NBA Draft by the Suns and is averaging 3.2 points per game in 35 games played during his rookie year.
