Vacant Home Explodes in Dolton
Adjacent properties on Riverside Drive sustained significant damage in Sunday afternoon fire.

DOLTON, IL - A vacant home in Dolton exploded Sunday afternoon, leaving it in rubble once a fire that damaged an adjacent property as well was extinguished.
Several residents of the 300 block of Riverside Drive called 911 just before 2:30 p.m. to report the explosion, according to a report from the Daily Southtown. A two-alarm fire resulted and damaged the homes on both sides of the house.
Neighbors told the Southtown that the home that exploded was vacant, but the owner only abandoned it a week ago.

Several area fire departments responded, with about 75 firefighters taking 45 minutes to contain the blaze.
