Yard Sale Planned To Help Church Get New Building

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - Members of a small church in Chicago Heights say they are ready to buy a building of their own and have a yard sale planned to help raise money to do just that.

The Asiel World Church International has been established in Chicago Heights for 13 years now, but their congregation has had to rent from other churches in order to hold their services until now.

"We are ready to purchase a building of our own and are currently searching for a new building to call our home," said Mercedes Zavala, a member of the church.

Donations from friends have already come in, with more expected to be raised at a yard sale planned from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. at St. Mark United Church of Christ, 312 Chicago Road in Chicago Heights. The church currently uses the building at St. Mark's for their services.

Household items, clothes and furniture will be available at the sale, as will hot dogs, chips and refreshments.
