• Illinois Mixed Bag: Rare swallow-tailed kite spotted in Crete (outdoornews.com) — A rare swallow-tailed kite was recently spotted in Crete, marking only the second recorded sighting in Will County and giving local birders a special reason to watch the skies. The report comes as nearby Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie expands hunting access and trail use, while federal wildlife staffing and water protections face national policy changes.
• $200,000 Lucky Day Lotto Tickets Sold In Crete & Rochelle (97zokonline.com) — A $200,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket was sold at the Circle K in Crete, so local players who recently bought tickets there should double-check them right away. The winner matched all five numbers in the September 12 midday drawing, and has a year to claim the prize after signing and safely storing the ticket.
