Abominable Snow Race to Hit Crystal Lake

(CRYSTAL LAKE, IL) – Fitness, family and fun are the focus of ASR Events’ first annual Abominable Snow Race, to take over Veterans Acres Park on January 30, 2016. Race coordinators Bill Wolfe and Chad Riffe of ASR Events; have assembled a challenging 3.5 mile course, with 24 winter-themed obstacles on the hills and valleys of Veterans Acres Park. Partnering with the Crystal Lake Park District, STAR 105.5 Radio and Northwest Herald; ASR Events expects 1,500 racers from Illinois and the surrounding states to compete.

The fun begins at 7 am. Racers of all ages and experience levels are welcome.

· Individual elite racers (ages 17+) will battle for the title of “Abominable Champion” at 8am.

· At 9am, ASR Events will honor local police, fire, military, and first responders in the Heroes Heat. In teams of 5, they will battle for a 2 ½’ trophy, bragging rights, and the title of “2016 Hero Champions”.

· Individuals or teams (ages 17+) can conquer the 3.5 mile course from 9:20am until 2pm

· Ages 4-12 yrs old can conquer the 9-obstacle, Lil-Yeti course (parents can run along)

· Ages 13+ can run the 3.5 mile course in our Family Fun Heats (from 1-2pm)

More than a fitness competition, Abominable Snow Race will have heated tents in the Winter Village. The Battle of the Bands will add energy and excitement as local bands compete for a cash prize. A cheering crowd of area residents will participate in the day’s fun, encouraging racers through the course, dancing to the bands, enjoying delicious local food and beverages. Complete the day by getting a photo with the ASR Yeti, which is sure to create a social media buzz for everyone!

This is the ONLY winter obstacle course of its kind in the region. Racers can register online at www.AbominableSnowRace.com. Registrants receive a race medal, T-shirt, and winter hat. Support this ‘snow-tacular’ event by registering for the race, being a volunteer, vendor, sponsor, or simply coming to watch the fun. Facebook posts provide ongoing updates for community involvement and participation.

TLS Veterans will be the beneficiary of a portion of the proceeds from the event. TLS Veterans assists homeless veterans and those veterans in need of local support services.
