Lake In The Hills Man Found Dead After House Fire Identified

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office says autopsy results are pending as investigators continue to determine what caused the fire.

LAKE IN THE HILLS — A 76-year-old Lake in the Hills man who was found dead inside his home following a residential fire has been identified as Jack Murdock Sr.

According to the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, autopsy results are pending and no preliminary findings have been released.

The man was discovered on April 20after a relative went to check on him at the residence on Brittany Bend and reported a possible fire, according to media reports.

Fire crews responded to the home and found no active flames from the exterior but observed significant fire damage inside, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. Murdock was located inside the residence and pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner’s office said.

Authorities said the incident does not appear to be suspicious. The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
