Emergency crews responded to the House of Children in the 2500 block of Harding Lane in Woodstock at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday where daycare staff had "begun providing care," according to fire officials. The first emergency crews at the scene continued life-saving efforts and "through a coordinated effort were able to stabilize" the bay before he was transported to a nearby hospital.

The baby was later flown to a different hospital for advanced care, according to a news release from the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

The infant, who was been identified as Cameron Morris of Woodstock, died at Lurie's Children's Hospital on Thursday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Woodstock Police Department has opened an investigation into the incident, Shaw Local is reporting. John Lieb, police chief for the Woodstock Police Department, said staff found the unresponsive baby during a scheduled check while the infant was napping.

A staff member noticed the baby was not breathing, according to Lieb.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, the House of Learning addressed the incident.

"We would like to extend our gratitude to our community for the overwhelming support show to the little one who experienced a medical emergency today," according to the statement posted on Facebook. "We are extremely proud of our team for their prompt and professional response, and above all, we are wishing for a speedy and full recovery for this sweet baby."

The statement is no longer posted publicly on the House of Learning Facebook page.
