CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Summer is inching closer and so is the return of outdoor wakeboarding and lakeside fun at The Quarry Cable Park in Crystal Lake.
The popular cable wakeboard park, aqua park and taproom will kick off its 2026 season on Saturday, May 23, with wakeboarding, aqua attractions, food, drinks and more.
Located within the popular Three Oaks Recreation Area, the local wakeboarding park is one of the Midwest’s few cable‑powered wakeboarding facilities.
Unlike traditional wakeboarding, which is done behind a boat, the park uses a series of overhead cables that pull riders across the water. Riders hold onto a handle attached to the cable, which moves around a loop, carrying the rider around the lake.
Wakeboarding, as well as the quarry's aqua park and outdoor bar and grille, will reopen Memorial Day weekend. On opening weekend, hours will be as follows:

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or trying cable wakeboarding for the first time, there’s something here for every water enthusiast. Lessons, equipment rentals, and multiple cable features help newcomers get started and give experienced riders plenty of thrills.
Beyond wakeboarding and the aqua park, The Quarry offers a full lakeside experience that includes: a lakefront patio with scenic views; a fire pit and beach area for relaxing; a bar and grille for food and drinks; sand volleyball, baggo and other games; and occassional live music and other events.
Located at 5517 Northwest Hwy in Crystal Lake, The Quarry Cable Park is part of the Three Oaks Recreation Area.
The popular swim beach at Three Oaks Recreation Area in Crystal Lake is tentatively scheduled to open at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2026, weather permitting.
