LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Board has voted to temporarily ban new data center developments in unincorporated areas of Lake County.

The decision comes amid concerns raised by residents and officials about the potential impacts of large-scale data centers on infrastructure, energy demand, and the environment. County leaders said the moratorium will pause new approvals while officials review zoning rules and evaluate long-term regulations for such facilities, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner.
