Coroner IDs Teen Killed In Dirt Bike Collision

Tyler Waldal, 14, died from blunt force injuries after an electric dirt bike collided with an SUV in Wauconda, officials said.

WAUCONDA, IL — A 14-year-old boy who died after an electric dirt bike crashed into an SUV in Wauconda Tuesday night has been identified as Tyler Waldal, of Wauconda, according to the Lake County Coroner's Office.

The crash happened at about 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 500 block of Main Street, authorities said. First responders found Tyler suffering from critical injuries and transported him to Advocate Condell Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

An autopsy conducted Wednesday at the Lake County Coroner's Office determined preliminary findings that Tyler died from blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, according to the coroner.

Because of the severity of the crash, the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County was called in to assist with the investigation.

The crash remains under investigation by the Wauconda Police Department and MCAT.
