South Elgin Man Charged In Indiana University Fraternity Hazing Case

Two pledges were hospitalized with a severe muscle injury after an alleged initiation ritual involving strenuous exercise.

A South Elgin man is among seven Indiana University fraternity members charged with felony hazing after prosecutors alleged an initiation ritual sent two pledges to the hospital with serious injuries.

Court records show Logan A. Conforti, 20, and six other members of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity each face two Level 6 felony hazing charges stemming from an October 2025 pledge event that allegedly involved hours of strenuous exercises and ice baths, according to the Daily Heald. Two pledges were hospitalized with rhabdomyolysis, apotentially life-threatening condition caused by severe muscle breakdown, and one fraternity member also faces an obstruction of justice charge for allegedly directing victims to conceal what happened.
