BULL VALLEY, IL — A 63-year-old Johnsburg man died after a motorcycle crash Friday night in Nunda Township, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and McHenry Fire Protection District crews responded around 10 p.m. Aug. 7 to a reported crash in the 800 block of Cherry Valley Road, south of Bull Valley Road. A preliminary investigation found the man was riding a 2019 Honda Fury north on Cherry Valley Road when the motorcycle failed to negotiate a curve, left the roadway and struck a large rock, authorities said.
The driver, who was the motorcycle's only occupant, was ejected and landed in a wooded area. He was taken by ambulance to Northwestern Medicine Hospital in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.
A helmet was not found at the scene, according to authorities. Speed and alcohol are believed to have contributed to the crash.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
