ISLAND LAKE, IL — A former Island Lake village trustee was arrested after police said he broke through a glass door and kicked a woman in the stomach during an altercation at a Crystal Lake-area restaurant, according to media reports.
Harold England, 59, has been charged with assault, battery causing bodily harm and criminal damage to property. According to court records, the incident happened on Aug. 7 at Carlos River Cafe, where England allegedly broke a glass door and raised his fist toward a woman before kicking her as he was asked to leave, the Lake & McHenry County Scanner is reporting.
Court records show the woman suffered swelling and bruising and was taken to a hospital. England, who served as an Island Lake trustee from 2017 to 2021, was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or restaurant and is due back in court Sept. 4.
