The Jade Estates project targets empty nesters, will include traffic signal improvements at Sands Road, and is expected to be built within two years while contributing to the city's broader tree-planting efforts.
   

• McHenry County jail inmate accused of emailing woman he's charged with punching, threatening (shawlocal.com) — A McHenry County judge has tightened restrictions on a Lake Zurich man accused of domestic battery against a Crystal Lake woman, after prosecutors said he contacted her from jail despite multiple no-contact orders. The inmate must now be supervised when using a tablet, and faces an added charge of violating an order of protection tied to the same alleged victim.
