Cary Man Charged With Possessing, Disseminating Child Sex Abuse Material

Police said an investigation began in April after information was received through a national Internet Crimes Against Children task force.

CARY, IL — A 36-year-old Cary man faces felony charges after police said an investigation uncovered child sex abuse material on electronic devices at his home.

The Cary Police Department's Investigations Section received information in April through its partnership with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The information involved data believed to contain child sex abuse material being possessed at a Cary residence, police said.

Investigators identified a suspect and obtained a search warrant for a home in the 100 block of Bright Oaks Circle, according to a news release.

On Sept. 1, Cary police, with assistance from the Illinois Attorney General's Office and the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office, executed the search warrant at 74 Bright Oaks Circle. Multiple electronic devices were recovered and examined by digital forensic examiners from the Illinois Attorney General's Office, according to police.
