CARY, IL — Drivers traveling through Cary on Route 14, also known as Northwest Highway, will need to slow down after IDOT reduced the speed limit through part of the village.
The speed limit was lowered from 35 mph to 30 mph from Jandus Cutoff Road through downtown Cary to Borden Street. Cary Village Administrator Erik Morimoto said IDOT notified the village of the planned change, which was based on a traffic study conducted by the state, according to Shaw Local.
IDOT spokeswoman Maria Castaneda said the study considered factors including pedestrian and bicycle activity, intersections and driveways, parking, crash data and speed limits on nearby sections of roadway, according to the article.
