Did you know the nectar of over one million flowers makes just a pint of honey? Bees were first domesticated in artificial hives in Egypt & India at least over 4,500 years ago. It is said that it wasn't until A.D. 1000 that beekeepers began to realize the connection with bees and flowers that is required to make honey. A single Old-World species (Apis mellifera) was brought to North America by the colonists in the 1600s and produces nearly all our honey.
