• Driver rushed to hospital after serious head-on crash with semi-truck that left them trapped near Crystal Lake (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A driver was seriously hurt Monday afternoon in a head-on collision with a semi-truck on Walkup Road near Running Iron Drive in unincorporated Crystal Lake. Fire crews extricated the trapped motorist, who was rushed to Northwestern Medicine McHenry, while Walkup Road between Edgewood and Crystal Springs was shut down for about two hours during the sheriff's investigation.
• Coroner releases identity of 23-year-old Woodstock man who died after crashing truck into trees near Crystal Lake (lakemchenryscanner.com) — A 23-year-old Woodstock man died after his pickup left Butternut Drive in unincorporated Crystal Lake, crossed Chestnut Drive and slammed into several trees early Sunday morning. Crystal Lake Fire Rescue and McHenry County deputies found him trapped and heavily injured, and the coroner says speed, weather and alcohol are being investigated as possible factors while the crash remains under investigation.
