MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 37-year-old McCullom Lake man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child multiple times over a period spanning nearly a decade, prosecutors announced.
Juan A. Reyes-Rivas was found guilty of three counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of criminal sexual assault of a child following a three-day jury trial before McHenry County Judge Tiffany E. Davis, according to the McHenry County State's Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said evidence presented during the trial showed Reyes-Rivas sexually assaulted the child on multiple occasions between 2016 and 2025.
Jurors deliberated for about two hours after hearing testimony, reviewing evidence and listening to closing arguments before finding Reyes-Rivas guilty on all four counts, according to the state's attorney's office.
"Cases involving the sexual abuse of children demand that we do everything within our power to hold these predators accountable," McHenry County State's Attorney Randi L. Freese said in a statement.
Freese said such cases can be difficult to prosecute and credited investigators, advocates and prosecutors for their work on the case.
"We are grateful to the jurors for their careful attention to the evidence and to the investigators, advocates, and prosecutors whose work ensured justice was served on behalf of this child," Freese said.
Reyes-Rivas is scheduled to appear before Davis on Dec. 10 for sentencing.
