Cary 2013 Election Results: Village Mayor, District 26, Park District
Cary Election Day results for Tuesday, April 9, 2013.

Cary Village Board
Former village trustee Mark R. Kownick is returning to the board, this time taking Cary's top seat.
Kownick won his bid for Cary Mayor on Tuesday, collecting 52 percent of the vote with 1,450 votes total.

Bruce Kaplan, who currently serves as trustee for the village, was unsuccessful in his run for mayor. Kaplan received 1,305 votes when unofficial results were posted by McHenry County.
Although, he won't be mayor, Kaplan will remain on the Cary Village Board for at least two more years. His trustee term expires in 2015.

Cary School District 26
The race to serve on the Cary School District 26 Board was crowded, but at the day's end one incumbent and three newcomers were tapped by voters to serve.
Christopher Christensen received the most votes with 1,709; all 21 precincts reporting. Candidate Josh Howell followed with 1,452 votes, and another newcomer, Jennifer L. Crick collected 1,302.
Incumbent Julie Jette won the fourth seat, receiving 1,280 votes, according to county totals.
Another incumbent candidate, Floyd Myers, was unsuccessful in winning re-election after serving on the District 26 School Board for the past two years. Myers received 941 votes.

It's election day.
Voting for some races in Cary will be easy.
Races for Community High School District 155 Board and Cary Fire Protection District are uncontested. Cary Village Board trustee and clerk elections are also uncontested.
The races to watch are the battle for Cary Mayor between Bruce S. Kaplan and Mark R. Kownick, and the packed ballot for Cary Community Consolidated District 26 School Board.
A smaller challenge is running between three candidates vying for two Cary Park District commissioner seats.
