Crystal Lake Park District Craft Classes for Kids and Teens

Register Now for Winter Session Classes

Kids ages 2-17 will enjoy the chance to explore their creative side with 7 art classes offered by the Crystal Lake Park District. Registration in advance is required for all classes. Register online at www.crystallakeparks.org or in person at the Crystal Lake Park District Administrative Office, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake. Me & My Grandparent (age 2-5 years)
A fun, structured way to spent time with a grandparent. There will be games and lots of messy art.
Location: Admin. Bldg. Art Room, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake
Dates/Time: Monday, January 25-March 7 (no program February 15), 9:30-10:30 am
Program Fee: $70, Resident Discount Fee: $65

Slime Time (age 3-6 years)
Each artist will create with several messy medias like play dough, paint, glue, shaving cream and glitter.
Location: Admin. Bldg. Art Room, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake
Dates/Time: Thursday, January 14-February 18, 1-2 pm

Kids Paint-Art Attack! (age 7-17 years)
Kids will receive step-by-step instructions to complete an 11 x 14 canvas. All materials are provided.
Location: Admin. Bldg. Art Room, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake
Dates/Time: choice of February 6, March 12, April 16, May 7, 10 am-12:30 pm
Program Fee: $25, Resident Discount Fee: $25 (same fee both resident and non-resident), fee is per date

Club House Artists (ages 6 & up)
Artists will learn how to create Mine Craft of Fairy Themed drawings or gaming pieces. Students will also create interactive crafts to take home.
Location: Algonquin Village Hall, 2 S. Main St, Algonquin
Dates/Time: Tuesday, January 12-26, 6-7:30 pm (Mine Craft theme), Tuesday, February 9-23, 6-7:30 pm (Fairy Fun)
Program Fee: $35, Resident Discount Fee: $35 (fee is per 3 week session)

Teen Club House Artists (ages 12 & up)
Teens will use Prisma colored pencil techniques to create a photo realistic drawing of the student’s favorite candy bar.
Location: Admin. Bldg. Art Room, One East Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake
Dates/Time: Thursday, February 11-25, 6-8 pm
Program Fee: $35, Resident Discount Fee: $35 (same fee resident and non-residents)

Sew Cool (ages 10 & up)
Learn how to read a pattern and use a sewing machine. Two machines will be available for group use, but feel free to bring a machine if you have one. A supply list will be mailed out before the start of class.

Dates/Time: Saturday, January 16-30 (Pillowcase or Tote) and Saturday, February 20-March 5 (Zipper Purse), 9-11 am

Creative Crochet (ages 16 & up)
If you have ever wanted to make a crocheted afghan, scarf or sweater, this class will get you started. You will learn the basic stitches, how to read a pattern and get started on a simple project. Whether you are learning or just need to brush up on your stitches, you’re never too old for this class. All materials are provided.

Dates/Time: Wednesday, February 24-March 30, 7-8:30 pm
