Crystal Lake to Reinstall Decorative Street Light Fixtures
Workers will reinstall the decorative light fixtures along Route 14 in Crystal Lake over the next couple weeks.
After several months of waiting, the city of Crystal Lake will reinstall the decorative street light arm assemblies along the Route 14 corridor startingΒ Monday, Nov. 4.
The fixtures were removed last FebruaryΒ as a precautionary measure afterΒ city workersΒ noticed an issue with the performance of the hardware on the new lights during a routine inspection.
City officials were concerned the hardware on theΒ new light poles wouldn't hold the weight of a heavy snowfall.Β

For that reason, city staffers reached outΒ to the light fixtureΒ manufacturer to find replacement hardware that is safe and reliable under various weather conditions.
Motorists shouldΒ expect intermittent lane closures fromΒ 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.Β daily.Β
