Fuhler, Tegtmeier Families Donate $5K to Crystal Lake Centennial Celebration
Local families donate money to help fund upcoming Centennial Celebrations.
The city of Crystal Lake will celebrate its Centennial on Sept. 23, 2014.
Plans are already under way to commemorate this special occasion, including a two-day Centennial Kick-Off Festival at Three Oaks Recreation Area onΒ Friday and Saturday,Β Sept. 20-21.Β
But the special events won't stop there. For that reason, the Crystal LakeΒ Centennial Committee was established for the purpose of developing and implementing several events to mark the city's 100th milestone.
The committee has been working to secure sponsorships to help fund some of the activities. Earlier this month, Crystal Lake Bank and Trust stepped forward to become the main sponsor of the Centennial festivities andΒ donated $10,000 for the cause.
On Tuesday night,Β area businessman John Fuhler andΒ his mother,Β Eunice Tegtmeier Fuhler, presented a $5,000 donation to the Crystal Lake City Council The Fuhler and Tegtmeier families are "Gold Sponsors" for the Centennial.
Β
"We are 6th generation members of the community," John Fuhler told the council.
The Centennial Committee extended an invitation to area businesses to become sponsors of the celebration. InvitationsΒ wereΒ sent to all Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce members.Β
The Algonquin Township Highway Department has agreed to be a Supporting Partner by providing two shuttle buses and drivers during the Centennial Kick-Off Festival. The shuttle buses will be used to transport patrons from the free shuttle parking lots located in the former Walmart building on Route 14Β to the festival.
