Truth in Accountingβs 2014 financial analysis of Illinois is out, and for the fourth consecutive year, the βTaxpayer Burdenβ in Illinois ranks second-highest in the nation, increasing from $43,400 in 2013.
The government financial watchdogβs Taxpayer Burden measurement calculates the approximate amount of money required of each taxpayer to pay the stateβs total debt, which includes liabilities you wonβt find on Illinoisβ balance sheet.
Using TIAβs new data, we looked at how Illinoisβ Taxpayer Burden compares to six of our closest neighbor states and the trend from 2009-2014. We also used information from United Van Lines to track domestic outbound move statistics in Illinois and these six states during the same time period.
